I like to write what I call poetry. But reading them? Reading poems is hard.
Most of what I write is lightweight compared to the high-powered poetry composed by famous people. For example, the haiku I have posted on this blog, they aren't technically haiku. They may be acceptable in the more modern, loosey-goosey West, but they do not conform to traditional haiku structure.
I think poems are hard to to read. They feel like they are in another language, even though they are in English. The structure, the rhythm, I'm not sure what, something throws me off, and makes the meaning obtuse.
I would say, though, that while poems are hard to read, they may reward you. When you are able to overcome the difficulty of finding it's meaning, there is a sense of accomplishment.
Poems are hard. But hard is not bad.
